As a Lactation Technician, you will have the opportunity to provide breastfeeding support and counseling to mothers and infants in Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) clinics and local hospitals.

  • Compensation: $42,401.00 - $50,154.00 Annually
  • Start Date: Immediate openings available
  • Position: Lactation Technician – Part-Time

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide breastfeeding support and counseling to mothers and infants in WIC clinics and local hospitals
  • Conduct breastfeeding clinical instruction and counseling sessions with mothers and infants
  • Monitor and evaluate breastfeeding mothers and infants to ensure effective breastfeeding practices
  • Provide education on dietary and lifestyle changes that support the nutritional needs of nursing mothers and breastfeeding infants
  • Maintain accurate records of breastfeeding support and counseling sessions
  • Collaborate with Registered Dieticians and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care

Essential Qualifications:

Education:

  • Associate degree from an accredited college or university

Experience:

  • Two years of experience providing breastfeeding instructions to mothers and their infants in clinics or hospitals

Licenses, Registrations, and Certificates:

  • Current certification as an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) by the International Board of Certified Lactation Consultant Examiners
  • Copy of applicant’s current certification must accompany application

Preferred Qualifications:

Skills and Competencies:

  • Knowledge of current principles, techniques, and practices of breastfeeding counseling and lactation support
  • Skill in breastfeeding clinical instruction and counseling
  • Skill in interviewing techniques
  • Ability to monitor and evaluate breastfeeding mothers and infants
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
