Job Summary

As a part-time math tutor, you will be responsible for providing drop-in tutoring support to students in a range of math courses, including Pre-Algebra, Algebra, College Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus 1 and 2, Introductory Statistics, and College Mathematics. You will work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, often with multiple students at once, and will be required to be available on campus and online to provide support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring sessions in mathematics, focusing on individual needs and learning styles
• Tutor a wide range of college-level math classes, including Pre-Algebra, Algebra, College Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus 1 and 2, Introductory Statistics, and College Mathematics
• Conduct 1:1 math tutoring appointments as needed
• Communicate with the College's STEM Specialist and Director of Academic Services regularly to voice concerns and seek guidance when necessary
• Assist in review sessions for the College's most populated mathematics courses
• Develop and implement effective study and learning strategies to promote academic success
• Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions and submit timesheets and paperwork in a timely manner
• Attend trainings and participate in professional development as required

Requirements and Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

• Associate's degree or equivalent credits (60 credits)
• Extensive coursework in mathematics, including the subjects listed above
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
• Availability to work approximately 24 hours per week, including some mornings and at least one evening per week

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or master's degree in mathematics or related field
• Experience in an educational environment
• Familiarity with Logic, Matlab, financial math, set theory, Java, Physics, medical math, differential equations, linear algebra, multivariate calculus, TI-83/84 calculators, and Desmos
