Key Responsibilities

  • Support Individual Healthcare Plans and Individual Education Plans within the assigned special education classroom(s)
  • Follow directions from the Classroom Teacher, Building School Nurse, and Building Administration to ensure seamless support for students
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to district policies and procedures, including the administering of medication and FERPA regulations
  • Provide medical services and medical interventions for assigned students with minimal disruption to the educational setting
  • Offer instructional support for the assigned classroom, assisting with daily communication logs and other tasks as needed
  • Collaborate with the Classroom Teacher and other Classroom Assistants to effectively utilize assisted technology and equipment
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Classroom Teacher or Building Administration

Qualifications and Requirements

Essential Qualifications

  • Current and valid certification as a Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, or other relevant medical certifications
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex information, including business periodicals, professional journals, and governmental regulations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information in a positive and clear manner
  • Basic mathematical skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in various units of measure
  • Ability to follow instructions and procedures, and to deal with problems involving multiple variables
  • Proficiency in using technology relevant to the role, including software applications and equipment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working with children or in a school setting
  • Experience with assisted technology and equipment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
