About the Role: Online Adjunct Instructor - English Composition

We're seeking a highly skilled and passionate Online Adjunct Instructor - English Composition to join our team of educators. As an Online Adjunct Instructor, you will play a vital role in guiding students through the writing process, helping them develop their critical thinking, writing, and communication skills. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our students and contribute to the University's mission of changing lives and communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach online courses in English Composition, fostering a dynamic and engaging learning environment that promotes student success.
  • Communicate effectively with students through regular feedback, phone, email, and virtual meetings, providing academic support and guidance as needed.
  • Develop and implement curriculum and assessments that align with course objectives and outcomes.
  • Utilize effective teaching strategies and technologies to create an interactive and inclusive online classroom.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, committee work, and other University events as required.
  • Complete professional development requirements, including a minimum of 6 Rasmussen Educational Units (REUs) annually.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in English, Creative Writing, or Master's of Fine Arts with a writing emphasis from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in the field of English Composition or a related field.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Regular access to a computer with the required system specifications (Windows XP or greater, Microsoft Office 2010, and a reliable internet connection).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching online or in a related field.
  • Familiarity with competency-based education and Rasmussen University's mission and values.
  • Knowledge of current trends and best practices in teaching English Composition.
