World Business Lenders (WBL) provides general purpose short-term real estate collateralized commercial loans to a broad customer base comprised of small and medium sized businesses throughout the United States that lack access to traditional funding.

WBL is a U.S.-based company with a 100% remote workforce.

Generally, working hours will be 9:00am-6:00pm Eastern time, Monday through Friday, although hours worked may be greater based upon operational requirements.

The job requires excellent oral and written command of the English language.

You must be comfortable working with productivity monitoring systems

Responsibilities

• Architecture & Road-mapping

• Define the target architecture for Angular front-ends, Python back-ends (FastAPI/Django), and SQL Server/Azure SQL data layers.

• Create integration blueprints (REST/gRPC, webhooks, message queues) for inbound/outbound data flows with third-party systems (CRM, marketing, doc-gen, KYC, etc.).

• Maintain an ADR (Architecture Decision Record) log and “golden paths” for the team.

• Solution Design & Delivery

• Translate business processes into modular web application services (domain boundaries, API contracts, data models, error contracts).

• Lead design reviews; de-risk with spikes and proof-of-concepts; break initiatives into epics/stories with clear Definition of Done.

• Pair with engineers on complex features; unblock deep issues in performance, concurrency, and data integrity.

• Data & Integrations

• Model relational schemas (normalized tables, SCDs where applicable), define indexes/partitions, and author T-SQL (procs, views, functions).

• Establish integration patterns (idempotency, retries, backoff, DLQs) and data quality SLAs.

• Security & Compliance

• Own authN/authZ (JWT/OAuth2), secrets management, PII handling, and audit logging.

• Drive secure coding standards, dependency governance, and vendor risk assessments.

• Reliability & Operations

• Define SLOs/SLIs, observability (structured logs, metrics, traces), and incident playbooks.

• Choose CI/CD strategy (pipelines, environments, canary/blue-green) and infra (Azure/AWS, containers/serverless as appropriate).

• Mentor senior engineers; run design clinics and post-mortems.

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to map processes and prioritize automations.

Requirements

• 8+ years in software engineering, 3+ as architect/tech lead.
• Production systems with Angular, Python (FastAPI or Django), and SQL Server (including performance tuning & T-SQL).
• Building integrations at scale (API gateways, OAuth, webhooks, queues like SQS/Rabbit/Kafka).
• CI/CD (GitHub Actions/GitLab/Azure DevOps), containerization, cloud (Azure/AWS).
• Excellent English communication across execs and engineers.

Nice to Have

• Event-driven architectures, DDD, CQRS; feature flags; Terraform.
• Experience in fintech or data-sensitive domains.
