As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our video and interactive systems across Walt Disney World (WDW).

The Telecom Services Team

Our Telecom Services team is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the complex network infrastructure that supports our video and interactive systems across WDW. We work closely with various stakeholders, including resort designers, facilities management, and other technical teams, to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance. As a Technical Specialist - Datacom, you will be an integral part of this team, working on a wide range of projects that require technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a keen eye for detail.

Key Responsibilities

As a Technical Specialist - Datacom, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing field support and maintenance for video servers and programming, video or interactive hardware installations, and stock management
  • Collaborating with internal teams to design, implement, and maintain video and interactive systems across WDW
  • Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to video and interactive systems
  • Conducting site surveys and assessments to identify areas for improvement
  • Developing and implementing solutions to optimize system performance and efficiency
  • Collaborating with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of equipment and services
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation of system configurations, maintenance, and repairs
  • Participating in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for critical systems

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 3+ years of experience in the AV/IT industry, with a strong understanding of video and interactive systems
  • 3+ years of experience in network engineering and management, with a focus on datacom and telecommunications
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, SAP Workplace, and Service NOW
  • Familiarity with various video and audio merchant applications (Sonify, QSC, Crestron, IOT, Synamedia, Genetec, SevOne, Forward Organizations, Splunk, Zabbix, Infoblox, etc.)
  • Experience with big business video distribution, sustainment, and execution
  • Strong understanding of network security principles and industry best practices
  • Knowledge of investigation and reporting tools like Scene, Power BI
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings as required

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications would be highly desirable:

  • 3+ years of experience in the AV or IT industry, with a focus on video distribution, encoding, audio mixing, and IOT devices
  • 3+ years of experience in network engineering and management, with a focus on datacom and telecommunications
  • Familiarity with various security and organization certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CISSP)
  • Experience with vendor-related certifications and training (e.g., QSC, Synamedia, Cisco)

Education

A Bachelor's Degree in a related field, such as software engineering, video technology, data systems, engineering, mathematics, data analysis, or other related logical or technical discipline, is required. Alternatively, relevant certifications or work experience may be considered.
