Key Responsibilities

As a Data Associate, you will play a critical role in supporting the development and improvement of Alexa's speech recognition and language understanding capabilities. Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Working with a variety of text, speech, and other types of data to identify and extract relevant information
• Utilizing in-house tools and software to ensure high-quality data processing and meet key performance indicators (KPIs)
• Reporting any issues with tools and software as they arise
• Collaborating with the team to identify opportunities for improvement and contribute to the development of new tooling and processes
• Maintaining strict confidentiality and adhering to all relevant blithequark policies and procedures for handling sensitive data

A Day in the Life

As a Data Associate, you will be responsible for performing primary data naming tasks, such as speech recognition and text analysis, to evaluate and improve Alexa's performance in real-world scenarios. You will work closely with the Alexa Data Services team to identify and address data quality issues, develop new data processing techniques, and contribute to the development of new tooling and processes.

About the Team

The Alexa Data Services team is a dynamic and collaborative group of data scientists, engineers, and analysts who are passionate about harnessing the power of data to drive innovation. We work closely with Amazon AI (ML) Science and modeling teams to provide the high-quality data they need to improve Alexa's speech recognition and language understanding capabilities.

Essential Capabilities

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
• Fluency in Italian and English (written and spoken)
• Ability to work an adaptable schedule, including weekends, evenings, or holidays
• Secondary school diploma or equivalent
• Familiarity with working with data from different languages and accents

Preferred Capabilities

While not required, the following skills and experiences are highly desirable:

• Experience working with speech or language data, including experience with comment
• Familiarity with different types of data markup
• Understanding of data handling requirements and compromise
• Self-motivated and proactive approach to data quality and improvement
