A Brief OverviewMake a meaningful impact every day as a Certified Medical Assistant at the heart of patient care. In this hands-on role, you'll be a key partner to physicians and nursing staff - supporting patient visits from start to finish and helping create a smooth, welcoming, and efficient clinical experience. Your skills, compassion, and attention to detail will directly influence patient outcomes and satisfaction.

Location: CHOP Primary Care, South PhiladelphiaMust be willing to rotate if needed to other Care Network sites within the designated cluster.What you will do

  • Provide patient-centered front-desk support, including greeting patients, answering phones, and scheduling appointments.
  • Maintain accurate electronic and paper medical records and coordinate laboratory services.
  • Obtain and document vital signs, physical measurements, pain screens, and relevant medical history.
  • Identify patients in distress and promptly escalate concerns to the appropriate care team.
  • Assist physicians and nursing staff during examinations, procedures, and treatments.
  • Collect and process laboratory specimens, perform phlebotomy, and conduct basic point-of-care testing per standards.
  • Prepare patients for exams, imaging, tests, procedures, and perform EKGs using age-appropriate techniques.
  • Administer medications and reinforce patient and family education as directed by the physician.
  • Maintain infection prevention, instrument sterilization, quality control logs, and clinical workspace readiness.
  • Promote patient safety by adhering to policies, reporting concerns or errors, and practicing within CMA scope and training.

Education Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED Required
  • Technical Diploma Medical Assistant Program Preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • Experience in a medical office setting Preferred
  • At least one (1) year of work experience Preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of exam, diagnostic and treatment room procedures.
  • Ability to maintain quality control standards.
  • Ability to read, understand and respond to detailed oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to react and communicate clearly, calmly and effectively.
  • Working knowledge of sterile techniques and special procedures that are applicable to work performed.
  • Working knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in administering routine and special treatments to patients.
  • Working knowledge of sanitation, personal hygiene and basic health and safety precautions applicable for work in a clinic setting.
  • Working knowledge of infection control procedures and safety precautions.
  • Perform care according to age specific competencies.
  • Daily clinic preparation process; registration, scheduling, charge posting, order entry.
  • Ability to document and communicate pertinent information.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and clinic staff. Ability to work effectively in a team.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - American Association of Medical Assistants, American Medical Technologist, National Center for Competency Testing or National Association for Healthcare Professionals - within 3 months - Required or
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Association of Medical Assistants, American Medical Technologist, National Center for Competency Testing, National Association for Healthcare Professionals, American Registry of Medical Assistants Inc, Healthcare Professionals Registry of the United States, or American Allied Health - within 3 months - Required or
  • National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) - National Center for Competency Testing - within 3 months - Required or
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - National Healthcareer Association or National Center for Competency Testing - within 3 months - Required or
  • Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) - American Medical Certification Association - within 3 months - Required or
  • Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) - National Allied Health Test Registry or National Association for Healthcare Professionals - within 3 months - Required and
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) - issued through on organization that requires a hands-on instructor lead psychomotor skills verification (ex. American Heart Association or Red Cross). - within 3 months - Required

SALARY RANGE:

$20.55 - $25.69 Hourly

Salary ranges are shown for full-time jobs. If you're working part-time, your pay will be adjusted accordingly.
