This is a remote position.

This is a full-time contract position offering a daily rate. The role focuses on providing strategic leadership and operational governance for an on-premises private cloud platform, ensuring the stability and high availability of mission-critical business applications through ITIL-aligned and SRE-adapted processes. The job title for this contract is T3 Operations & Support Leading Service (PID9053).

Fluent German and English (C1 level) are required.

Only occasional onsite visits in Germany.

Responsibilities

  • Operational Governance: Provide definitions and guidance for incident, problem, change, and release management processes, ensuring strict adherence across the platform.

  • Operational Readiness: Establish and verify readiness criteria for go-lives, including cutover and rollback strategies, runbooks, and monitoring setup.

  • Team Leadership & Coaching: Lead and develop the Tier-3 team, guiding Infrastructure and Kubernetes/Data SMEs while managing knowledge transfer and team capability.

  • Coordination & Escalation: Facilitate cross-tier coordination (T1, T2, T4) and manage stakeholder alignment and decision-making during high-severity situations.

  • Continuous Improvement: Monitor reliability KPIs, address recurring operational debt, and champion automation and toil reduction initiatives.

  • Platform Stability: Consult on the seamless operation of productive business applications to minimize operational downtime and ensure infrastructure performance.

  • Lifecycle Maintenance: Oversee routine updates, patches, and system optimisations to maintain a robust and secure local infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Senior-level professional with senior experience in IT operations, service delivery, or platform operations within mission-critical environments.

  • Proven experience implementing and leading governance for Incident, Problem, Change, and Release management.

  • Expert knowledge of ITSM and collaboration toolsets, specifically Jira Service Management (JSM), Jira, and Confluence.

  • Strong background in defining and owning "Transition to Operations" and Operational Readiness practices.

  • Deep understanding of modern platform operations (Kubernetes/containers, automation, observability) sufficient to govern technical specialists.

  • Awareness of GitOps and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts (Terraform, OpenTofu, ArgoCD, Helm) to govern deployment standards.

  • Experience operating in regulated or high-availability industries (e.g., Banking, Public Sector, or Healthcare).

  • Proficiency in both speech and writing in English (at least C1).

  • Proficiency in both speech and writing in German (at least C1).

  • Eligibility Residency in the EU, EEC, UK, or Switzerland.
