We believe that learning a new language should feel like living it. Our app blends AI-driven conversation, movie-like storytelling and real-world slang into a gamified, mobile-first learning experience. Think Duolingo meets TikTok.

Were building a new category of learning product. Playful, pop-cultural, deeply intelligent and were looking for a mobile developer who wants to own the engineering side of bringing SLANG to life.

Role Requirements

• Build the first version of the SLANG app,ideally iOS-first using React Native, Swift, or similar
• Integrate LLM-based tools (e.g. GPT-4, Whisper, TTS/STT) for real-time conversations
• Implement scenario-based logic with support for avatars, storylines, and branching dialogue
• Work closely with design to ensure gameplay feels intuitive, dynamic, and responsive
• Set up back-end architecture (or help us choose how to do it right)
• Create the codebase, tech stack and deployment process - from prototype to App Store
• Contribute hands-on with the development of a range of solutions including websites, web apps, CI pipelines, and headless CMS integrations.
• Define and implement scalable, maintainable front-end architectures using modern frameworks.
• Collaborate closely with UX, design and creative teams to deliver pixel-perfect interfaces with exceptional animation, motion and rendering performance.
• Champion modern front-end tooling to improve velocity, code quality and team workflow.
• Inspire others to form an exemplary technical team by sharing knowledge, mentoring peers, and leading by example.
• Participate in pitches.
• Stay ahead of emerging technologies and propose ways to integrate innovation meaningfully, especially around AI.

Qualities & Characteristics

• Youve built mobile apps before, either independently or as part of a team
• Strong skills in iOS development (Swift/SwiftUI) or cross-platform tools like React Native
• Experience or curiosity around AI tools, APIs, and voice/speech tech
• You care about UX and making things work beautifully, not just functionally
• Self-driven, reliable and excited to shape how people learn languages in a new way
• Interest in conversational AI, game logic and working with creative teams
• A can-do attitude, eager to embrace big challenges
• Attention to detail and a passion for getting to the root of a problem
