Strategic Sourcing, Manager - Enterprise Technology

Work from home Full-time role Hiring

About the position Airbnb was born in 2007 when two hosts welcomed three guests to their San Francisco home, and has since grown to over 5 million hosts who have welcomed over 2 billion guest arrivals in almost every country across the globe. Every day, hosts offer unique stays and experiences that make it possible for guests to connect with communities in a more authentic way. The Community You Will Join: The Strategic Sourcing team is part of Airbnb’s Global Procurement organization and plays a key role in enabling Airbnb to operate efficiently and scale sustainably. We partner closely with internal stakeholders to design and deliver sourcing strategies that align with Airbnb’s business priorities while driving innovation, value, and stakeholder success. We are a collaborative, forward-thinking team that embraces an AI-first mindset — leveraging technology, automation, and data to simplify processes and unlock new efficiencies. Guided by Airbnb’s mission to create a world where anyone can belong, we focus on delivering value through curiosity, creativity, and integrity. Key cross-functional partners: Finance, Legal, Business Operations. The Difference You Will Make: As the Sourcing Manager supporting the CIO organization, you will act as a strategic advisor to technology leaders responsible for enterprise systems and platforms. You will lead sourcing initiatives across key enterprise technology domains including SaaS platforms, enterprise software, data platforms, and security technologies. Your role is not simply to run procurement processes, but to help leaders make informed build-vs-buy and supplier decisions. You will also contribute to the transformation of sourcing itself. Our team is embedding AI into how sourcing decisions are prepared, analyzed, and executed. This role will help develop and adopt those capabilities across enterprise technology categories. Success in this role means enabling smarter technology investments, stronger supplier partnerships, and improved operational clarity across the CIO organization.

  • Evaluate supplier capabilities, pricing models, and technical fit to support engineering decision-making.
  • Support major infrastructure and platform negotiations including cloud, data infrastructure, developer platforms, and AI technologies.
  • Use data and AI-enabled tools to analyze proposals, compare supplier economics, and extract insights from contracts and proposals.
  • Partner with Legal and Finance to structure commercial terms that balance engineering flexibility with financial discipline.
  • Develop category strategies that improve supplier performance, manage risk, and create long-term competitive advantage.
  • Contribute to the evolution of sourcing workflows by helping implement AI-enabled analysis, deal summaries, and supplier evaluation frameworks.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to drive successful negotiations and supplier outcomes.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing, consulting, or technology vendor management.
  • Experience sourcing technology categories such as cloud infrastructure, developer platforms, AI technologies, or engineering services.
  • Strong negotiation and commercial strategy experience in complex technology environments.
  • Ability to translate technical requirements into commercial strategies and supplier decisions.
  • Experience working with engineering or product organizations.
  • Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills.
  • Experience using data, automation, or AI tools to improve business workflows or decision processes.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

Benefits

  • This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
