Job title: Program Specialist - Alternative Education Company: Panama-Buena Vista Union School District Job description: The Panama-Buena Vista Union School District announces openings for one (1) Program Specialist for the Educational Services Division - Alternative Education. The Program Specialist will provide leadership, staff development and training. In addition, the position will assist in planning, organizing, and directing programs for student academics, attendance, behavior and safety. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Advise and provide support to the school, district and program personnel responsible for staff development activities.

Assist in the implementation of academic standards and expectations for student performance. Assist in the development of effective, appropriate programs and coordination of resources for students. Assist in assuring a positive school climate by fostering an environment of cooperation, respect, and personal responsibility among students. Assist in developing and conducting professional development in areas of assigned responsibility. Perform other duties as assigned. ABILITIES

• Requires the ability to perform the essential duties of the position efficiently and effectively with administrative direction.

Requires the ability to select, establish standards,support and train staff. * Requires the ability to identify and respond to issues, concerns, and needs of students, parents, and staff. Requires the ability to work with increasingly complicated situations in dealing with student attendance and welfare, and parent/family problems. Requires the ability to communicate effectively in a wide variety of settings, often requiring a unique sensitivity to others and a persuasive ability to achieve results. Requires the ability to work in a multi-ethnic setting. Requires the ability to direct and prepare mandated reports, complex records and correspondence. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * Position requires at least three-five years of teaching and/or coaching experience.

• Master?s Degree from accredited college or university with major in education or related field; Doctorate degree desired
• Valid California Credential in area of expertise.
• Must possess a private vehicle, valid California driver's license and carry current automobile insurance with at least minimum coverage for public liability and property damage.
• Fingerprint clearance by both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met.

SALARY AND TERMS OF SERVICE Annual Salary $100,400 - $121,430 (based on the 2022-23 Salary Schedule) nine (9) steps, 204 working days per year, eight (8) hours per day. Placement on the salary schedule is determined by number of years of experience in related position. $2,000/year stipend for Doctorate Degree. Additional time/days as is necessary to perform related job duties and responsibilities. The District currently contributes $19,793.00 per year to family medical, dental and vision insurance plans; life insurance plan for employee only.
