HVAC Service Superintendent

Champion Industrial Contractors is seeking a highly skilled HVAC Service Superintendent to lead our service operations and support our growing mechanical service division. This role combines technical expertise, leadership, manpower coordination, customer interaction, and estimating responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in commercial/industrial HVAC service, strong communication skills, and the ability to guide technicians while generating accurate estimates for quoted repairs.

Key Responsibilities

Service Leadership & Manpower Management

  • Oversee daily manpower assignments for HVAC service technicians.
  • Coordinate and manage technician scheduling to ensure timely response to service calls.
  • Assist dispatch with prioritizing workload and ensuring efficient workflow across the service department.

Technical Support & Field Guidance

  • Serve as the primary technical resource for HVAC service technicians.
  • Provide guidance on troubleshooting, repair strategies, and best practices.
  • Address complex technical questions in real time to support successful field execution.

Estimating & Quoted Repairs

  • Evaluate service reports and diagnostics to prepare accurate quotes for repairs.
  • Estimate labor, materials, and equipment required for repair work.
  • Collaborate with vendors to obtain pricing and maintain cost accuracy.
  • Ensure quotes support profitability while meeting customer expectations.

Customer Relations & Immediate Needs Support

  • Act as a direct point of contact for customers regarding service inquiries, urgent issues, and repair decisions.
  • Respond quickly to immediate customer needs, ensuring clear communication and timely solutions.
  • Work closely with dispatch and technicians to adjust manpower or schedules when urgent customer issues arise.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships through professionalism, responsiveness, and dependable service delivery.

Operational Oversight & Communication

  • Work closely with dispatch, project managers, and service coordinators to maintain alignment on daily operations.
  • Communicate consistently with customers and internal teams to ensure clarity and satisfaction throughout the service process.
  • Support planning for larger service projects and recurring maintenance programs.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain records of estimates, quoted repairs, service activities, and technician assignments.
  • Provide regular updates on service workload, quoting backlog, and departmental needs.

Qualifications

  • 7–10 years of experience in commercial/industrial HVAC service.
  • Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, boilers, chillers, and mechanical equipment.
  • Experience supervising technicians or leading field operations preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with estimating tools, service software, and mechanical service workflows.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred but not required.

Champion Industrial Contractors determines compensation based on the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $125,000 - $150,000. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience
