Nuclear Safety Engineer
Westinghouse Electric Co is a leader in providing clean energy solutions, and they are seeking a Nuclear Safety Engineer to join their innovative team. The role involves performing engineering calculations related to nuclear safety and supporting various engineering tasks under the mentorship of senior engineers.
Responsibilities
- Perform engineering calculations related to nuclear safety, fluid flow, probability risk assessment, equipment qualification, heat and mass transfer, by managerPrepare appropriate documentation supporting evaluations and analysesVerify routine design evaluations and analyses performed by others, as qualified.Interface on a limited basis with customers, vendors, and other teams on engineering level to obtain information necessary to perform work assignmentsObtain results to routine technical problemsDevelop skills necessary to assume more independent assignments and support the strategic initiativesIdentify and recommend improvements in processes on continuing basis and support implementation and identify and help develop new business opportunities.Plan and schedule own work to meet assignment requirements within schedule and budgetary requirementsEnsure accuracy and completeness of assigned tasks
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical)
- 0-2 years coding experience in one or more of the following areas: Mathcad, C++, Fortran, and Visual Basic
- Experience in dispersion modeling and severe accident modeling and analysis
- Experience in thermal-hydraulics modeling and analysis, specifically with RELAP
- Experience in facility hazard modeling and analysis
- Experience in equipment qualification
- Laboratory experience with custom experiments
