Associate IT Portfolio and Project Analyst

The Associate IT Portfolio and Project Analyst role involves managing components of the product management process, assisting in business operations analysis, and maintaining reports to evaluate project goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Under direct supervision, manages specific components and assigned tasks within the product management and/or service development process
  • Translates business requirements to technical requirements for developers to understand
  • Assists with the development of user stories with traceability to the source
  • May assist with the analysis of business operations to identify process improvement opportunities, and the modeling of current and desired scenarios using defined models, methods, and tools
  • Maintains and runs reports to evaluate value realization against product, risk management, service, or project goals and objectives
  • Assists the testing team with the development of test cases based on the requirements
  • Assists with the delivery and collection of organizational assessments
  • Participates in product demos and testing, and attends industry presentations
  • Assists or performs product demonstrations
  • Supports the development of service/product descriptions and helps maintain service/product catalogs and documentation
  • Assists with the execution of resourcing activities in collaboration with delivery team managers
  • Research market trends and customer behavior that will help contribute to feature development and operations improvements
  • Supports the development of customer journey maps and product innovation roadmaps
  • Collaborates closely with product & operations management, developers, and designers to implement product enhancements based on business requirements
  • Actively participates in agile ceremonies
  • Assists with the development of effective reports and documents to communicate findings and analysis to the team and business stakeholders
  • Works closely and directly with design and engineering teams to deliver solutions that have demonstrable and measurable impact
  • Engages closely with the engineering team to help determine the best technical implementation methods to achieve our customer and business objectives
  • Partners with engineering, design, data, lifecycle, and member support teams to support building software collaboratively and inclusively
  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned
  • Observes the work performed by the contractor
  • Addresses performance issues with the contractor when possible
  • Escalates issues to other parties as needed
  • Abides by MTA attendance expectations and requirements by attending regularly and reliably
  • Provides technical advice to project teams and mentors less experienced staff to foster talent development

Skills

  • Education: Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Experience: 1 year
  • Prefer at least one certification in the current platform/domain/technical skills
  • Expert experience with common developer productivity tools like Jira, Confluence, etc
  • Capable of understanding technical concepts
  • Capable of process-focused execution, having successfully driven technical programs for enterprise products in a fast-paced environment
  • Capable of working with enterprise customers
  • Capable of working with project management tools and workflows
  • Capable of customer journey management
  • Familiarity with product delivery
  • Familiarity with SQL ideal, working with tools for data analysis and programming languages (e.g., Python or R) for data handling and analysis
  • Familiarity with business analysis or project management
  • Familiarity with all phases of business application development lifecycle
  • Familiarity with agile methodology
  • Capable of delivering quality service
  • Basic knowledge of the business and a comprehensive understanding of how systems relate to it
  • Working knowledge of IT service development concepts
  • Capable of active listening, attention to detail, customer service, prioritization, and problem-solving skills
  • Works independently and strategically
  • Capable of identifying and analyzing risks and developing effective mitigation strategies
  • Basic skillset for understanding various technologies, systems, and potential risks
  • Capable of critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Capable of interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with both technical and non-technical peers
  • Capable of assisting multiple projects simultaneously and prioritizing tasks based on urgency and impact
  • Fundamental awareness with hands-on experience with related tools
  • Capable of working under pressure and meeting deadlines individually and collaboratively. Thinks logically, assesses problems, and is results-oriented
  • Capable of identifying business and technology risks and associated vulnerabilities
  • Capable of communicating effectively, both orally and in writing, to interact with team members, customers, management, and support personnel (technical and non-technical)
  • Adept in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees at all levels within the organization, and with both internal and external customers

Benefits

  • This position is eligible for teleworking, which is currently 2 days per week. New hires are eligible to apply 30 days after their effective date of hire.
