President - Hispanics in Philanthropy
Organizational Overview Hispanics in Philanthropy (HIP) is the leading organization advancing philanthropic investment, influence, and collective action for and with Latine communities across the U.S., Mexico, and the Americas. HIP works to transform philanthropy by influencing how resources are prioritized, invested, and distributed to address inequities facing Latine communities. Building on a powerful, 40-year legacy, HIP acts as a membership organization, a strategic partner influencing grantmaking and regranting, and a powerful advocate to address the structural inequity where less than 1% of philanthropic support reaches Latine communities. HIP’s ultimate mission is to drive systemic change that strategically increases the overall pool of resources directed toward Latine-led and serving organizations. HIP executes its mission by operating across three interconnected areas:
- Build: Cultivating and convening philanthropic leaders, donors, foundations, and investors committed to advancing equitable funding strategies and collective action for Latine communities.
- Fund: Channeling and increasing philanthropic resources toward organizations and leaders advancing transformative, community-driven change while influencing broader sector investment in Latine communities.
- Fuel: Strengthening philanthropic infrastructure by aligning funders, movement leaders, and cross-sector partners to scale solutions and sustain long-term impact.
HIP’s influence is exercised through a dual approach often described as "Major in Philanthropy, Minor in Advocacy," which includes educating funders, developing new leaders through programs like the Líderes network, and advancing policy. The organization stands at a critical inflection point, and the Board is currently working to confirm the organization's "north star" to define a clear, focused strategic direction. While HIP maintains financial stability with a budget of $12.3m and benefits from significant recent philanthropic investment and a strong national reputation, the organization is also navigating an important period of strategic reassessment, operational strengthening, and leadership transition.
