Join arenaflex: Where Innovation Meets Purpose

At arenaflex, we believe in the transformative power of technology to improve lives and reshape how people communicate, work, and connect. Every day, more than 50,000 professional teams and millions of individuals around the world trust arenaflex's cutting-edge AI and human expertise to help them ideate, compose, refine, and comprehend their communications. Our colleagues are empowered to take on thrilling challenges in pursuit of our bold mission: to improve lives by improving communication.

We are a values-driven, learning-focused, and inclusive organization that has spent over a decade building sustainable, profitable growth. Our product portfolio includes tiered offerings tailored to meet the needs of individuals, professionals, teams, and educators. Our most recent innovation harnesses the power of generative AI, bringing intelligent assistance to a global audience. Everything we build starts with our people — a team that thrives in a collaborative, hybrid environment where curiosity is celebrated and excellence is expected.

To continue advancing our ambitious roadmap, arenaflex is searching for a talented and driven Data Engineer to join our Data Engineering Platform team. In this role, you will design and build highly automated, low-latency core datasets that empower data engineers, analysts, and end users across arenaflex to derive meaningful insights at massive scale. This is a full-time remote position based in the New Jersey, USA region, with standard eight-hour workdays.

Your Impact at arenaflex

As a Data Engineer on our Data Engineering Platform team, you will be a key technical contributor shaping the foundation upon which our analytics, machine learning, and product experimentation efforts are built. You will partner closely with engineers, analysts, product managers, and data scientists to ensure our data infrastructure is robust, scalable, secure, and self-serve friendly. Your work will directly influence the speed at which teams across arenaflex can access, trust, and act on data.

At arenaflex, our engineers and researchers have the unique opportunity to drive innovation, uncover breakthroughs, and — as a result — shape our product direction. The complexity of our technical challenges is growing rapidly as we scale our integrations, algorithms, and infrastructure. If you are excited by hard problems, love building elegant systems, and want to see your work reach millions of users, this is the role for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive continuous improvements that make analytics effortless by designing, building, and evolving core data models, schemas, and storage structures, while deeply understanding the needs of internal stakeholders and downstream consumers.
  • Deliver fresh, trustworthy, and query-ready data and metrics within minutes of real-world events, building streaming pipelines that process both derived events and aggregated datasets.
  • Architect and implement the construction, storage, and access patterns of data at very high volumes across our modern data lakehouse.
  • Boost developer productivity and expand self-service capabilities by contributing reusable components, libraries, and tooling to our stream data processing systems.
  • Own infrastructure-as-code for data engineering, provisioning services that allow our engineers to deploy mature, production-ready foundations in hours, not weeks.
  • Build a world-class pipeline and platform that scales gracefully with arenaflex's continued growth in users, products, and use cases.
  • Mentor and coach other engineers on the team, helping them grow technically and professionally while raising the bar for engineering excellence.
  • Design, build, and contribute to highly scalable distributed systems on AWS, helping shape the future of arenaflex's back-end data architecture.

What We're Looking For

We are seeking someone who not only brings strong technical chops but also embodies the values that define arenaflex. Our EAGER values — Ethical, Adaptable, Gritty, Empathetic, and Remarkable — guide everything we do, and we want a teammate who lives them daily.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
  • Hands-on professional experience with one or more modern programming languages such as Python, Scala, or Java.
  • Proven experience designing database products and writing sophisticated SQL queries against large datasets.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, build, and ship APIs and backend services at scale.
  • Solid experience with system design and building internal tools that empower other developers.
  • Track record of working with data from data lakes, lakehouses, or large-scale analytical stores.
  • Some experience building internal admin interfaces or developer portals.
  • Working knowledge of AWS (or, alternatively, deep expertise in Azure or GCP with the willingness to ramp up quickly on AWS).
  • The judgment to efficiently select the right open-source or third-party tool for the job — or to build a simple, elegant solution from scratch when none exists.

Skills and Competencies for Success

Beyond the core technical requirements, the ideal candidate will demonstrate a combination of analytical, communication, and leadership skills, including:

  • Systems thinking: The ability to design solutions that consider scale, reliability, cost, and operability end-to-end.
  • Data modeling expertise: Comfort designing dimensional, normalized, and denormalized models for varied analytical workloads.
  • Streaming and batch fluency: Practical experience with technologies such as Kafka, Flink, Spark, Kinesis, or equivalent.
  • Cloud-native mindset: Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tooling (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi) and modern CI/CD practices.
  • Collaboration and communication: The ability to work effectively across teams, translate ambiguous business needs into technical designs, and document systems clearly.
  • Curiosity and continuous learning: A passion for staying current with the rapidly evolving data and cloud ecosystem.
  • Mentorship: A track record of coaching junior engineers, reviewing code thoughtfully, and uplifting team performance.

Compensation and Benefits

arenaflex offers a competitive compensation package designed to attract and retain top talent. For this role, the hourly rate is $27/hour, with full-time employment classification and standard eight-hour workdays. Beyond base pay, our benefits package includes:

  • Comprehensive healthcare coverage, including a wide range of medical, dental, vision, mental health, and fertility benefits.
  • Disability and life insurance options to protect you and your family.
  • 401(k) and RRSP matching programs to support your long-term financial goals.
  • Generous paid parental leave for new parents.
  • Twenty days of paid time off per year, eleven paid company holidays, and unlimited sick days.
  • Home office and remote work stipends to help you set up a productive workspace.
  • Caregiver and pet care reimbursements.
  • Wellness stipends for fitness, mental health, and overall well-being.
  • Learning and development opportunities, including conference budgets, certifications, and internal training programs.
  • Employee discounts on arenaflex products and partner services.

Work Environment and Culture at arenaflex

arenaflex embraces a remote-first, hybrid model that enables a highly collaborative culture supported by our EAGER values. We believe autonomy and trust are essential to empowering our colleagues to do their best, most innovative work in a way that aligns with their individual interests, talents, and well-being.

We are intentional about fostering belonging and connection among teammates in many ways, including our employee resource groups, arenaflex Circles, which promote connection among colleagues with shared identities and experiences. We also celebrate our people and their achievements through global, local, and team-specific programs designed to recognize meaningful contributions.

Candidates should be comfortable collaborating in person up to two weeks per quarter, traveling if necessary to the hub where the team is based (New Jersey, USA region for this role). The position is otherwise fully remote within the United States, giving you the flexibility to do your best work from wherever you thrive.

Career Growth and Learning

At arenaflex, professional development is not an afterthought — it is a foundational pillar of how we work. We invest in coaching, structured training, regular feedback, and clear growth paths so that every colleague can continually expand their impact. Whether your goal is to deepen as an individual contributor, grow into technical leadership, or branch into architecture, arenaflex provides the mentorship, opportunities, and runway to get there.

Our engineering culture encourages experimentation, knowledge sharing, and ownership. You will have access to internal tech talks, cross-functional collaboration, and the freedom to explore new technologies that could shape the next generation of our data platform. We believe that when our people grow, our products grow — and so does our mission.

How to Apply

If you are passionate about building data infrastructure that powers intelligent products used by millions, and you want to join a mission-driven team that values autonomy, collaboration, and impact, we would love to hear from you. Bring your curiosity, your craft, and your convictions to arenaflex, and help us define the future of communication technology.
