Why arenaflex? – A Visionary Leader in Interactive Entertainment

arenaflex is on a relentless mission to redefine how the world experiences entertainment. With more than 200 million paid members spanning over 190 countries, arenaflex is already a household name in streaming, and now the company is boldly expanding into the fast‑growing realm of interactive gaming. This is not just another product line – it is a strategic frontier where storytelling, technology, and data converge to create unforgettable player experiences. As an entry‑level data professional, you will be at the heart of this transformation, helping to shape the data‑driven future of arenaflex Games.

About the Role – Data Specialist, Games DSE (Data Science & Engineering)

arenaflex’s Data Science and Engineering (DSE) team leverages data, analytics, and scientific methods to solve complex business challenges across the organization. The Games DSE group focuses on building robust data pipelines that capture, process, and surface critical metrics from both individual titles and the broader game portfolio. As a Data Specialist, you will work hand‑in‑hand with game studio partners, the arenaflex Game Development teams, and the arenaflex SDK group to ensure that the right data flows into the right places at the right time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable, flexible data pipelines capable of handling both structured and unstructured gaming data.
  • Collaborate with internal game studios (arenaflex, arenaflex, arenaflex and arenaflex) to define high‑level metrics such as retention, churn, session length, and in‑game economy health.
  • Partner with the arenaflex SDK team and external game partners (e.g., arenaflex) to ingest telemetry through the arenaflex Games SDK.
  • Work closely with data scientists and analytics engineers to translate raw telemetry into actionable insights for product, design, and business stakeholders.
  • Implement best‑in‑class data quality checks, monitoring, and alerting to guarantee the reliability of production pipelines.
  • Contribute to a vibrant community of data engineers, sharing knowledge of emerging technologies, patterns, and performance‑tuning techniques.
  • Document pipeline architecture, data models, and operational procedures to support knowledge transfer and onboarding.

About You – The Ideal Candidate

  • Passionate about building reliable data products that empower decision‑makers.
  • Proficient in at least one programming language—Java, Python, or Scala—with roughly 2 years of hands‑on coding or data‑engineering experience (internships, academic projects, or personal work count).
  • Comfortable writing advanced SQL queries and optimizing them for performance.
  • Experience (or strong interest) in constructing data pipelines using big‑data technologies such as Hive, Presto, Spark, Flink, or similar frameworks on medium‑to‑large scale datasets.
  • Familiarity with AWS cloud services (S3, EC2, RDS, Lambda, Glue, etc.) and an eagerness to deepen cloud‑native expertise.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into flexible data models and end‑to‑end pipelines.
  • Enthusiastic about continuous learning, embracing new tools, and advancing your career within a fast‑moving environment.

Essential Skills & Competencies

  • Data Modeling: Understanding of relational and dimensional modeling, as well as schema design for analytics workloads.
  • Programming & Scripting: Strong coding practices, version control (Git), and test‑driven development.
  • Big‑Data Processing: Hands‑on experience with distributed processing engines (Spark, Flink) and query engines (Hive, Presto).
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Practical knowledge of provisioning, security, and cost‑optimization on AWS.
  • Collaboration: Excellent communication skills for working with cross‑functional teams, including game designers, product managers, and senior engineers.
  • Problem‑Solving: Analytical mindset with a data‑first approach to troubleshooting and performance tuning.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice‑to‑Have)

  • Exposure to streaming data platforms such as Kafka or Kinesis.
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes) for pipeline deployment.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Looker, Tableau, Power BI) to surface metrics to non‑technical audiences.
  • Background in gaming analytics, telemetry, or a personal passion for video games.
  • Contributions to open‑source projects or participation in data‑engineering communities.

Career Growth & Learning Opportunities

arenaflex invests heavily in the professional development of its employees. As a junior member of the Games DSE team, you will have access to:

  • Mentorship from senior data engineers and data scientists who have built world‑class analytics platforms.
  • Internal training programs covering cloud architecture, advanced analytics, machine learning, and game‑specific data science.
  • Opportunities to rotate across different product lines—streaming, gaming, and interactive media—to broaden your skill set.
  • Attendance at industry conferences, hackathons, and internal “Data Days” where you can showcase innovative solutions.
  • A clear promotion pathway from Associate Data Engineer to Senior Engineer, Lead Engineer, and eventually Data Architecture roles.

Work Environment & Culture at arenaflex

arenaflex fosters an inclusive, collaborative, and high‑energy environment where curiosity is celebrated. Our teams operate with a “player‑first” mindset, meaning every decision is evaluated through the lens of the end‑user experience. The culture is built on:

  • Transparency: Open communication channels, regular town‑halls, and shared OKRs (Objectives and Key Results).

  • Flexibility: Hybrid work models, flexible hours, and a focus on results rather than clock‑watching.
  • Innovation: Dedicated “20% time” for engineers to explore pet projects, experiment with emerging technologies, or prototype new game concepts.
  • Well‑Being: Comprehensive health plans, mental‑health resources, generous paid time off, and wellness stipends.

Compensation, Perks & Benefits

While exact figures vary by location, arenaflex offers a competitive total‑reward package that includes:

  • Base salary aligned with market benchmarks for entry‑level data roles.
  • Annual performance‑based bonuses tied to individual and company success.
  • Equity grants that give you a stake in arenaflex’s long‑term growth.

  • Retirement savings plans with company matching contributions.
  • Generous parental leave, paid sabbaticals, and continuous learning allowances.
