Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of Data Governance capabilities including Data Literacy, Data Stewardship, Data Quality, Metadata Management, Master Data Management, Data as an Asset, and Privacy & Compliance.
  • Develop, document, and enforce standards, workflows, and policies that embed governance into daily operations.
  • Partner with the Data Governance Executive Committee to define, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics that demonstrate adoption and effectiveness.
  • Act as the Product Owner for governance‑related data products, prioritizing backlog items, guiding development, and ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams—including Business Intelligence, Data Engineering, and Security—to embed data quality checks and compliance controls into data pipelines and analytics platforms.
  • Research emerging data‑governance tools, evaluate vendor solutions, and lead the rollout of new technologies that automate and streamline governance processes.
  • Serve as the primary spokesperson and advocate for governance initiatives, delivering clear communication to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Mentor and coach data stewards, data owners, and business users, fostering a culture of data responsibility and continuous learning.
  • Maintain a comprehensive data catalog, ensuring accurate metadata, lineage, and data dictionaries are available to all data consumers.
  • Oversee privacy and compliance activities, guaranteeing that data handling adheres to regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, and industry‑specific standards.

Minimum Qualifications – Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of hands‑on experience in data analytics, data governance, or data quality management.
  • Proven track record of implementing one or more Data Governance capabilities within a large‑scale organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, monitor, and report on governance metrics that drive adoption and performance.
  • Experience working with Business Intelligence tools, data lakes, and data warehouses.
  • Hands‑on experience handling sensitive data (PII, SPII, PHI) and familiarity with relevant regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Practical knowledge of data quality and observability tools.

Preferred Qualifications – Education & Experience

  • Change‑management experience, especially in assessing downstream data impacts for regulatory reporting.
  • Expertise automating governance workflows using market‑leading platforms (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Informatica).
  • Deep experience delivering governance artifacts such as data dictionaries, metadata repositories, lineage diagrams, and data movement controls.
  • Background as a Data Steward, including auditing data access, managing data domains, and acting as a product owner for data products.
  • Experience working in Agile and DevOps environments, with a focus on iterative delivery and continuous improvement.
  • Prior experience in the airline, aviation, travel, or hospitality sectors.

Core Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Proficiency in SQL for data extraction, transformation, and validation.
  • Strong understanding of data and analytical standards, including data modeling, data profiling, and data lineage.
  • Relevant certifications such as CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional) or DGSP (Data Governance and Stewardship Professional) are highly desirable.
  • Exceptional communication skills – ability to translate technical governance concepts into business‑friendly language.
  • Adaptability to evolving operating models and the capacity to pivot focus areas without losing momentum.
  • Project‑leadership capabilities, from ideation through execution, ensuring timely delivery of governance initiatives.
