We are looking for a Contract Korean Localization Editor to support localization efforts for our upcoming title, Guild Wars 3. Working closely with Localization, Narrative, Design, Audio, Production, and QA teams, you will help ensure the Korean player experience feels polished, natural, culturally authentic, and aligned with the creative vision of the game. As a Localization Editor, you will review, edit, and improve localized game content across a variety of in-game experiences including UI, narrative, gameplay systems, tutorials, cinematics, live-service content, and marketing materials. This role requires strong linguistic expertise, editorial judgment, and a deep understanding of how localization impacts player experience. WHAT YOU’LL DO Edit, review, and refine all Korean-localized content both in-game and out-of-game to ensure quality, accuracy, consistency, readability, tone, and cultural relevance, grounded in a deep understanding of the game’s lore, narrative, and mechanics. Create and maintain localization resources, including glossaries, style guides, terminology databases, and editorial standards to ensure long-term linguistic consistency. Ensure all localized content aligns with the established voice, style, and creative direction of the game Serve as the linguistic quality owner, providing authoritative decisions on terminology, phrasing, and stylistic conventions. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Localization, Narrative, Design, Audio, QA, Production teams, and external vendor(s), throughout the localization process Provide linguistic feedback on character voice, dialogue flow, and overall player-facing content quality Ensure localized content supports accessibility, usability, and overall player experience goals Manage priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced and iterative development environment Translate and localize in-game and out-of-game text as needed Support linguistic QA, including bug triage, bug fixing, and implementation review as needed Handle additional localization-related duties as assigned WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL Bachelor’s degree in translation, linguistics, or related field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. 2 years of experience in translation, editing, and/or writing in a professional setting. 1 year of experience in game or software development, localization, or QA. Professional experience in localization, editing, translation, or linguistic QA within games, entertainment, publishing, or related industries Strong understanding of Korean grammar, tone, style, and cultural nuance Experience reviewing and editing player-facing content for quality, consistency, and readability Ability to adapt tone and writing style across different types of content, including narrative, gameplay systems, UI, tutorials, and live-service content Strong attention to detail and editorial judgment Excellent collaboration and communication skills across cross-functional teams Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable working in an iterative production environment Passion for games and player experience (with an emphasis on Fantasy/RPG games) NICE TO HAVE Experience working on live-service or multiplayer games Experience with CAT tools, localization pipelines, or localization management systems Familiarity with Unreal Engine workflows and in-game localization implementation Experience supporting narrative-heavy or RPG/MMO-style games Experience with localization QA or in-context review workflows Familiarity with Korean gaming terminology and regional player expectations Experience reviewing subtitles, VO scripts, or marketing/localization campaigns This is a 1 year+ contract.
