They are seeking an Associate Android Engineer to contribute to the design and development of new features in their Android applications, collaborating with various teams to enhance user experience.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design and development of new features in our Android applications using Kotin and Jetpack Compose
  • You will work closely with product, project, design, data, QA, and other engineers to participate in product development
  • Participate in code reviews and willingness to learn from constructive feedback
  • Assist in debugging and fixing bugs to ensure a high-quality user experience
  • Collaborate with internal NYTimes services and external APIs

Skills

  • Experience with Android engineering fundamentals, including writing testable code, networking, data persistence, and UI
  • Basic proficiency in Kotlin
  • Demonstrated understanding of Android design patterns
  • Experience with layouts, themes, styles, views, and other Android UI concepts
  • Prior professional Android engineering experience through internships, apprenticeships, or full-time employment
  • Experience with modern Android technologies such as Jetpack Compose and Coroutines
