Accountant, Staff
Beacon Communities LLC is a privately-owned real estate firm that develops, acquires, invests in, and manages a wide range of multifamily housing. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for daily accounting functions for corporate entities, participate in the month-end close process, and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for all aspects of the monthly corporate bank reconciliation process, making necessary adjustments in a timely manner
- Assist with month end close including account reconciliations, accruals, detailed general ledger review for proper account coding and service center segments, booking reclasses as necessary
- Responsible for preparation of monthly management company receivables reporting, regularly reviewing receivables, and following up on outstanding items
- Assist with the preparation of monthly/quarterly cash basis service center reporting ensuring expenses are properly coded to the appropriate service center
- Assist with preparation of workpapers for annual workers compensation audits
- Process inter-company billings and complete inter-company reconciliations
- Periodic preparation of financial statements
- Prepare monthly/annual Sales and Use Tax Returns
- Prepare annual workpapers for audits and tax returns
- Assist with annual budget preparation
- Assists corporate accounting team with special projects and ad-hoc reporting as needed
Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
- Some general ledger and month end close experience preferred
- Experience using Microsoft Excel and Word preferred
- Hard-working, self-motivated, with ability to work independently
- Must be detail oriented with proven organizational skills
- Must possess a desire to learn and move up within the organization
- Ability to consistently meet deadlines and work under pressure due to work complexity and time sensitivity
- Due to time sensitivity of work, position may occasionally require extended hours on during workdays, holidays, and/or weekends during peak periods of business
