About the Role

Our client, a rapidly growing telecommunications service provider, is looking for a vigilant Senior Network Security Analyst to join their cybersecurity team. This position, based remotely but supporting operations impacting Des Moines, Iowa , is critical for protecting our network infrastructure from evolving cyber threats. You will be responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and responding to security incidents, implementing security best practices, and ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our network assets. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of network security principles, threat landscapes, and defense mechanisms. Key Responsibilities

Monitor network traffic and security alerts for suspicious activity using SIEM and other security tools. Investigate and respond to security incidents, performing detailed analysis, containment, and remediation. Implement and maintain network security controls, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and endpoint security solutions. Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and address security weaknesses. Develop and update security policies, procedures, and guidelines. Stay informed about the latest cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation techniques. Collaborate with IT and network operations teams to ensure security is integrated into all aspects of network design and deployment. Provide security awareness training to employees. Prepare regular security reports for management.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in network security analysis and operations. Proficiency with SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, QRadar), IDS/IPS, firewalls, and endpoint protection platforms. Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP/S) and common network attacks. Experience with vulnerability scanning tools and penetration testing methodologies. Knowledge of security frameworks and compliance standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001). Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Strong communication and documentation skills. Relevant security certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or Security+ are highly preferred.
