Job Highlights and Overview We are seeking an exceptional Math Tutor to join our team at Mathnasium of Laurelwood in San Mateo, CA. As a Math Tutor with our organization, you will be responsible for creating engaging and productive learning experiences for students, both in-center and online, using our proprietary Mathnasium Method. This is a part-time position with flexible hours, ideal for individuals who are passionate about mathematics, education, and making a positive impact in their community.
Key Responsibilities
Provide Exceptional Instruction and Tutoring Services: Deliver high-quality math instruction to students, tailored to their individual needs and learning styles, to help them achieve their academic goals. Positive Interactions with Parents and Students: Establish strong relationships with parents and students, providing regular updates on progress, and fostering a supportive and encouraging learning environment. Proficiency with Digital Educational Materials and Processes: Become proficient in our digital educational materials and processes, utilizing technology to enhance the learning experience and improve student outcomes. Teach Using the Mathnasium Method: Implement our proprietary teaching method, which includes individualized instruction in a group setting, to provide students with a comprehensive and engaging learning experience. Assess Student Progress and Collaborate with Team Members: Continuously assess student progress, identifying areas of strength and weakness, and work collaboratively with team members to develop targeted strategies for improvement. Evaluate, Grade, and Correct Student Work: Provide constructive feedback on student work and homework, helping students to understand their mistakes, and guiding them towards mastery of mathematical concepts. Maintain a Clean and Professional Learning Environment: Contribute to the maintenance of a clean, organized, and professional learning environment, ensuring that all students feel safe, supported, and motivated to learn. Support Non-Teaching and Instructional Tasks: Assist with various tasks and projects as needed, contributing to the overall success and efficiency of our learning center.
Essential Qualifications
A Passion for Math and Education: A genuine passion for mathematics and a desire to help students develop a love for learning. Excellent Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues. Exceptional Math Competency: A strong foundation in mathematics, with competency through at least Algebra I, and the ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and concise manner. Ability to Balance Multiple Tasks: The ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and balance multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced learning environment. Willingness to Learn and Be Trained: A willingness to learn and be trained in our proprietary Mathnasium Method, as well as our policies, procedures, and best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience Working with Students: Previous experience working with students, either in a tutoring or teaching capacity, with a proven track record of success. Mathematics or Education Degree: A degree in mathematics, education, or a related field, with a strong academic record and a passion for learning. Familiarity with Digital Educational Tools: Experience with digital educational tools and software, with the ability to leverage technology to enhance the learning experience. Excellent Organizational and Time Management Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
