[Remote] Senior Network Engineer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Black Mountain Dynamics is seeking a Senior Network Delivery Engineer to support their Waymo contract, focusing on enterprise wired and wireless network integration, physical deployment, and advanced troubleshooting. This role involves hands-on work in data centers, leading network buildouts, and ensuring optimal performance across the network stack.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end physical installations: rack and stack of switches, firewalls, APs, and other network devices; cable management; labeling; and structured cabling validation. Own the network stack from day one of a deployment through sign-off
- Participate in the design, planning, and implementation of LAN and WLAN infrastructure. Translate network designs into precise, production-ready configurations across wired and wireless environments
- Deploy, configure, and validate enterprise Wi-Fi infrastructure — including site surveys, AP placement, RF tuning, and post-deployment validation. Experience with planning tools such as Ekahau and Hamina a strong plus
- Own the resolution of complex network issues across Layer 1 through Layer 7 — physical connectivity, switching, and wireless. You're the person others escalate to when the issue is hard
- Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to optimize throughput, latency, and availability across client environments
- Act as the on-site technical lead for network deployments. Deliver timely, accurate status updates to internal and client stakeholders. Manage scope, track milestones, and surface risks early
- Produce thorough as-built documentation, network diagrams, configuration records, and post-deployment reports. Leave every engagement with a clean, complete set of documentation
- Guide and develop Tier 1 and Tier 2 technicians in the field, sharing techniques and building team capability across deployments
- Apply baseline network security practices — firewall rules, VLAN segmentation, access control — as part of standard deployment and configuration work. This role is not security-primary, but sound security hygiene is expected
Skills
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience configuring and deploying networking hardware from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, Ruckus, Palo Alto, or Meraki
- At least 3 years leading physical network deployments — including rack/stack, structured cabling, and on-site installation in enterprise or campus environments
- Deep proficiency in wired networking: VLANs, STP/RSTP, LACP, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), QoS, and inter-VLAN routing
- Strong wireless expertise: RF planning, AP deployment, surveying, controller-based and cloud-managed WLAN architecture
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex network issues independently across all OSI layers
- Clear, professional communication with both technical peers and non-technical client stakeholders
- Ability to travel within the Bay Area regularly and across the US as needed for project work
- Bachelor's degree in Networking, Computer Science, or a related field
- Certifications such as CCNP, CWNA/CWSP, or similar vendor credentials
- Proficiency in Python or PowerShell for network automation and configuration scripting
- Experience with network monitoring and management platforms (SolarWinds, PRTG, Meraki Dashboard, Ruckus One, etc.)
- Prior experience in an MSP or MSSP environment delivering multi-site network projects
Benefits
- This full-time hybrid role offers remote work flexibility, with regular travel within the Bay Area and some travel throughout the US as required for project work.
