About the Role: As a Shopify Technical Lead, you are the technical authority across a portfolio of client projects and retainers; the person who owns the architecture, unblocks the team, and makes sure everything ships to standard. You’ll work closely with developers, consultants, and client-facing teams, translating complex technical challenges into clear solutions while managing and mentoring a direct report. If you thrive at the intersection of strategy and hands-on delivery in a fast-moving agency environment, this role is for you. Shopify Expertise: 5+ years hands-on experience managing, migrating, or scaling Shopify and Shopify Plus environments, with a strong grasp of eCommerce architecture, third-party apps, and CRO. Technical Problem-Solving: Ability to think both creatively and logically to design solutions that align with client business objectives. People Leadership: Experience managing a direct report, including responsibility for their output, growth, and day-to-day direction. Agency Experience: Background working in an agency or multi-client environment, managing competing priorities under tight deadlines. Stakeholder Communication: Strong communicator who can present technical concepts clearly to senior stakeholders and clients. AI & Tooling: Familiarity with AI tooling and a genuine willingness to integrate it into day-to-day delivery workflows. Attention to Detail: Consistent rigour across client-facing outputs and internal review processes. Technical Ownership: Own the end-to-end technical solution across projects and retainers, from architecture and scoping through to launch and post-delivery review. Team Direction: Provide clear technical guidance to developers, conduct code and delivery reviews, and ensure work ships efficiently and to standard. People Management: Manage a direct report developer by setting direction, supporting their growth, and maintaining accountability for their output. Client & Stakeholder Communication: Maintain transparent, timely communication with clients and internal teams, backing recommendations with data and keeping all parties aligned. Continuous Improvement: Stay current on Shopify platform updates, eCommerce trends, and emerging tools, proactively recommending solutions that improve client outcomes. Operational Compliance: Maintain 100% accuracy in daily time tracking across all project tasks and phases. Opportunity to learn from global ecommerce leaders.
