About arenaflex

arenaflex is a forward‑thinking organization dedicated to operating in an environmentally sustainable manner while championing land‑based environmental programs across Hawaii, Guam, and Alaska. Our mission goes beyond stewardship of the natural world; we actively invest in the communities where we live and work. Through a robust community‑giving program, arenaflex supports hundreds of local nonprofits each year, fostering stronger neighborhoods, cultural preservation, and economic resilience.

Equity, diversity, and inclusion are not just buzzwords at arenaflex—they are core pillars of our corporate DNA. We run an active social‑equity initiative that drives change within our company, the broader industry, and the regions we serve. By joining arenaflex, you become part of a purpose‑driven team that values trust, integrity, and reliability above all else.

Why This Role Matters

The Part‑time Remote Data Entry Specialist position is a critical hub in arenaflex’s operational engine. As a union‑backed role, you will support multiple functions—accounting, payroll, customer service, gatehouse operations, file management, and rates administration—ensuring that the organization runs smoothly and efficiently. Your work directly contributes to the accuracy of financial records, the satisfaction of our customers, and the overall health of our business processes, all while upholding the high standards of our union agreement.

Key Responsibilities

In this flexible, remote position you will be expected to:

  • Perform accurate data entry for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing.
  • Provide courteous, professional customer service via phone, email, and chat, addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
  • Maintain and organize digital and physical files in accordance with established SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
  • Assist the gatehouse team by logging visitor information, managing access records, and ensuring compliance with security protocols.
  • Support the rates department by updating pricing tables, entering contract details, and reconciling rate changes.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to troubleshoot data discrepancies and improve workflow efficiency.
  • Adhere to union guidelines regarding work hours, reporting, and documentation while maintaining a high level of accountability.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to learn new aspects of arenaflex’s operations, demonstrating adaptability and initiative.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

To thrive in this role, candidates must demonstrate the following:

  • Proven office experience—at least 1‑2 years in a clerical, administrative, or data‑entry capacity.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow detailed instructions and SOPs with precision.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of accounting principles, preferably with exposure to accounts payable or receivable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling professional customer interactions.
  • Valid Alaska driver’s license (or ability to obtain one) and eligibility to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) card.
  • Active membership in the relevant union and willingness to maintain that status throughout employment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, including the ability to create spreadsheets, use formulas, and generate basic reports.

Preferred Skills & Attributes

While not mandatory, the following competencies will set you apart:

  • Experience with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paylocity) or accounting platforms (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage).
  • Prior exposure to customer‑service environments, especially in remote or call‑center settings.
  • Ability to multitask effectively, balancing competing priorities without sacrificing accuracy.
  • Strong analytical mindset—spotting trends, identifying errors, and proposing corrective actions.
  • Demonstrated commitment to sustainability and community engagement, aligning with arenaflex’s core values.
  • Comfort with remote collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams, Slack, or Zoom.

Physical Requirements

Even though the role is remote, arenaflex expects candidates to meet the following physical standards to ensure safety and well‑being:

  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds independently.
  • Sitting for up to 50 minutes per hour, with short breaks as needed.
  • Standing for up to 30 minutes per hour when required for virtual meetings or equipment setup.
  • Walking for up to 20 minutes per hour during occasional on‑site visits or field tasks.
  • Capability to perform twisting, bending, and reaching motions while handling documents or equipment.

Compensation, Benefits & Growth Opportunities

arenaflex offers a competitive hourly wage of $24.25, with scheduled increases in line with the collective bargaining agreement. As a casual employee, you will receive contributions toward a Pension and Health & Welfare plan, and after one year of service you will earn one week of paid vacation. Our union framework provides clear pathways for advancement, and many of our permanent staff members began their careers as casual hires.

Beyond base compensation, arenaflex supports professional development through:

  • Access to online training platforms (e.g., LinkedIn Learning, Coursera) for skill enhancement.
  • Mentorship programs pairing new hires with seasoned professionals across finance, operations, and customer service.
  • Opportunities to cross‑train in different departments, expanding your expertise and positioning you for future leadership roles.
  • Regular performance reviews that align with union standards, ensuring transparent feedback and growth planning.

Our benefits package also includes:

  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage for you and eligible dependents.
  • Retirement savings options with employer matching contributions.
  • Paid holidays, sick leave, and flexible scheduling to accommodate work‑life balance.
  • Employee assistance programs (EAP) that provide counseling, financial advice, and wellness resources.

Our Culture & Work Environment

At arenaflex, culture is cultivated through intentional actions, not just statements. We foster an inclusive, collaborative atmosphere where every voice is heard. Our remote workforce enjoys:

  • Regular virtual town‑halls that keep everyone informed about sustainability initiatives, community projects, and business performance.
  • Team‑building activities—virtual coffee chats, online game nights, and occasional in‑person meet‑ups in our hub locations.
  • A commitment to environmental stewardship, encouraging employees to adopt green practices both at home and in the office.
  • Recognition programs that celebrate achievements in accuracy, customer service excellence, and innovative problem‑solving.

We believe that diverse perspectives drive better decisions. Whether you are a recent graduate, a career changer, or a seasoned professional, you will find a welcoming environment that values curiosity, rigor, and thoughtful challenge of assumptions.
