Position Overview

arenaflex is currently seeking a talented and detail-oriented Costume CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) Specialist to join our Costuming Department. This is an exceptional opportunity for an entry-level candidate or early-career professional who is passionate about garment construction, pattern design, and the art of bringing characters to life through clothing. In this role, you will collaborate closely with our Creators, designers, and external vendors to develop, refine, and document both theatrical and functional costumes for arenaflex’s iconic Theme Parks, Entertainment productions, and Character experiences.

As a Costume CAM Specialist, you will play an integral role in transforming creative concepts into tangible garments worn by characters that millions of guests adore. Your expertise will help shape the visual storytelling that defines the arenaflex brand. This position reports to the Costuming Workroom Manager and offers an engaging blend of artistic design, technical problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration.

The hourly rate for this position based in Florida is $22.45 per hour, with additional compensation considerations based on experience and skillset. Selected benefits may be included as part of the overall remuneration package, such as medical coverage, financial wellness programs, and additional perks. As part of the evaluation process, candidates will be asked to complete an 8-hour in-person assessment.

Key Responsibilities

• Construct precise technical drawings using Adobe Illustrator or comparable vector design software.
• Create, analyze, and interpret detailed line drawings for garment patterns and production specifications.
• Develop original patterns for new costume development projects across theatrical and functional lines.
• Customize and modify patterns for individual garments to meet character and performer specifications.
• Digitize, adjust, and refine patterns with exceptional accuracy for production-ready output.
• Generate and maintain Bill of Materials documentation for renewal orders and ongoing production cycles.
• Communicate with vendors and resolve technical questions in partnership with management.
• Conduct external vendor sample assessments and quality evaluations.
• Take precise measurements of garments and contribute to size chart development.
• Compose detailed product specifications in Microsoft Excel.
• Evaluate sample garments and prototype constructions for fit, function, and design fidelity.
• Perform test cutting and sewing to validate pattern accuracy.
• Collaborate with Costuming Leaders and participate in cross-departmental meetings to align creative vision with production execution.
• Input and update garment measurements within digital management systems.

Essential Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Possess a valid Driver’s License, as occasional driving of company vehicles may be required.
• Demonstrated knowledge of garment construction, pattern engineering, and cutting techniques.
• Familiarity with a wide range of fibers, including both manufactured and natural materials.
• Comfortable working in environments where performers may be in various stages of dress and undress during fittings.
• Flexible schedule availability, including willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.
• Full-time positions require complete availability for any shift, seven days a week, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator, Gerber Accumark, Microsoft Excel, Gerber YuniquePLM, Adobe Photoshop, Cutworks, Cast Estimations, SAP, and Accunest.
• Hands-on experience operating plotters, digitizing machines, and handheld 3D scanners.
• Garment production experience within the Apparel Industry, Textiles, Theater, Themed Entertainment, or a closely related field.
• Familiarity with industrial sewing machines, pressing equipment, and related tools.
• Experience creating and modifying flat sketch line drawings of complex garments in Adobe Illustrator.

Availability and Scheduling

Our Theme Parks and Resort properties operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Certain shifts may begin as early as 5:00 AM, while others may end as late as 3:00 AM, 4:00 AM, or 5:00 AM. Please note that seniority-based scheduling principles are applied when assigning shifts. Flexibility and reliability are essential for this role.
