Why This Role Matters

In today’s hyper‑connected world, data is the lifeblood of every successful product and service. arenaflex’s Data Warehouse team is the backbone that fuels analytics, machine learning, and real‑time decision making across the company. As a Data Engineer II, you will design, build, and maintain robust, secure, and scalable data pipelines that transform raw information into actionable insights for a diverse set of internal partners—including product design, finance, inventory, advertising, and customer support.

Key Responsibilities – What You’ll Do Every Day

  • Partner Collaboration: Gather and translate business requirements from stakeholders across verticals such as Memberships, Sales, Inventory, Finance, Product, and Advertising.
  • Data Ingestion Design: Architect and implement new data ingestion solutions using a blend of on‑premises AWS services and arenaflex‑specific internal tools.
  • Pipeline Maintenance & Optimization: Continuously improve existing ETL pipelines to meet evolving standards, performance targets, and compliance mandates.
  • Tool Development: Build and enhance reusable frameworks and utilities for internal and external partner consumption, ensuring data is discoverable, reliable, and well‑governed.
  • Code Review & Best Practices: Conduct rigorous code audits, enforce coding standards, and champion best practices for data quality, security, and operational excellence.
  • Rapid Learning & Innovation: Stay ahead of emerging technologies, quickly prototype new solutions, and integrate modern data engineering patterns where appropriate.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Produce clear documentation, run workshops, and mentor junior engineers to foster a culture of continuous learning.

Essential Qualifications – What We Require

  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in data engineering or a closely related field.
  • Proven expertise in designing, building, and maintaining ETL pipelines and data warehouses.
  • Strong command of SQL for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with distributed teams.

Preferred Qualifications – What Sets You Apart

  • Hands‑on experience with AWS data services such as Redshift, S3, Glue, EMR, Kinesis, Firehose, Lambda, and IAM.
  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language—Python, Java, Scala, or Node.js.
  • Familiarity with non‑relational data stores (object storage, key‑value stores, graph databases, columnar stores).
  • Exposure to data modeling for machine learning pipelines, analytics dashboards, or real‑time streaming applications.
  • Experience working with large‑scale, high‑throughput data environments and implementing data governance frameworks.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to dissect complex business problems and translate them into clean, efficient data solutions.
  • Communication: Clear written and verbal communication skills to convey technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Collaboration: Proven track record of partnering with product managers, data scientists, and business analysts to deliver end‑to‑end data solutions.
  • Adaptability: Comfort with fast‑paced environments, shifting priorities, and evolving technology stacks.
  • Security Awareness: Understanding of data privacy, encryption, and compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).

Career Growth & Learning Opportunities

arenaflex invests heavily in the professional development of its engineers. As a Data Engineer II, you will have access to:

  • Mentorship programs with senior architects and industry experts.
  • Sponsored certifications (AWS Certified Data Analytics, Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer, etc.).
  • Internal hackathons and innovation labs to experiment with emerging technologies.
  • Cross‑functional project rotations, allowing you to broaden your expertise across analytics, machine learning, and product development.
  • Clear promotion pathways to Senior Data Engineer, Lead Engineer, and Data Architecture roles.
