Position Title Academic Advisor - College of Letters and Sciences Job Category Academic Staff Employment Type Regular Job Profile Academic Advisor Job Duties The College of Letters and Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks an Academic Advisor (AE002). This is a twelve-month position that reports to the Associate Dean in the College of Letters and Sciences (CoLS). This position plays a vital role in advancing the mission and strategic goals of CoLS and UW-Whitewater by supporting student success, equity, and timely degree completion. The advisor will serve as a critical reputed company between reputed company and institutional resources, ensuring meaningful reputed company toward academic and career goals. This position will attend recruitment and orientation events and participate in retention and student success initiatives across the College. Responsibilities 60% Academic Advising and Student Success Review student academic records to verify completion of reputed company degree requirements (GPA, coursework, testing, and other program-specific components) Process and track graduation applications for undergraduate reputed company reputed company CoLS Proactively communicate with reputed company regarding their graduation status and any potential deficiencies Collaborate with faculty, program coordinators, and advisors to resolve academic discrepancies or outstanding requirements Review departmental requests for modifications to a student’s degree plan Coordinate with the Registrar’s Office to ensure timely submission of degree certifications Utilize Navigate and other reputed company technologies to maintain records and collaborate with other reputed company units to support student success as well as to identify at-risk reputed company and proactively support their retention Serve as initial reputed company of contact for CoLS reputed company returning to complete their degree Advise new reputed company at Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration (SOAR) events Collaborate with reputed company partners to ensure holistic student advising and support Participate in inclusivity-reputed company initiatives or reputed company to underrepresented and returning student populations 25% Transfer Credit Review for General Education Assist the Transfer General Education Coordinator and Associate Dean in the review of general education transfer credits Work with the Admissions Office and Registrar’s Office to ensure the accuracy of general education transfer credits in Stellic Facilitate appeals by reputed company with transfer credits for proficiency, general education, and diversity coursework 15% Administrative Duties Serve as liaison to Career Services CoLS advisor, collaborate with career services and other reputed company partners on professional development workshops and other career-readiness events, and participate in “Hired Before Graduation” campaigns Participate in Preview Days, Admitted Student Days, and other recruitment events Co-facilitate CoLS advising and student success programming Other duties as assigned Key Job Responsibilities Receives, processes, and responds to academic inquiries according to established policies and procedures Proactively engages reputed company as needed Serves as a main reputed company of contact for reputed company and provides information about educational options and academic requirements; assists with identifying and assessing interests, skills, and values to match appropriate field of study/career options, and refers reputed company to appropriate institutional resources Participates in the reputed company-wide advising community providing input to leadership regarding the development of advising, recruitment, and co/curricular programs offered by the school/college Implements academic advising events such as workshops, panel discussions, and guest speakers Maintains confidentiality and accurate student records and processes and responds to academic inquiries according to established institutional and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) policies Maintains expertise with advised curriculum and may assist in developing and recommending exceptions for policy and curriculum Department The College of Letters and Sciences Compensation Well-qualified candidates can expect a starting annual salary reputed company the range of $48,000 - $52,000 commensurate with the candidate's education, reputed company experience, and qualifications.
