Key Responsibilities of the Remote Customer Service Representative

As a Remote Customer Service Representative supporting arenaflex’s healthcare partner, you will serve as the first point of contact for a diverse range of internal and external customers, including members, providers, potential members, state agencies, and internal departments. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Answering Incoming Calls with Empathy and Professionalism: Handle a steady volume of inbound calls in a remote call center environment, consistently demonstrating a customer-first philosophy while serving providers, members, prospective members, state agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Explaining Policies, Procedures, and Benefits: Clearly and accurately communicate existing healthcare policies, procedures, and benefit information to members, providers, and internal departments in a way that is easy to understand and actionable.
  • Researching, Resolving, and Documenting Inquiries: Thoroughly research and resolve customer questions, concerns, and issues. Document each interaction with precision in the CRM tool, ensuring a complete and accurate record of the inquiry and resolution.
  • Conducting Proactive Outgoing Calls: Place outbound calls to follow up on member and provider inquiries, communicate benefit information, support retention efforts, address claims questions, and respond to other time-sensitive needs.
  • Leveraging Multiple Resources and Systems: Utilize resource materials, policy and procedure manuals, handouts, databases, training opportunities, and multiple integrated systems to deliver accurate information and handle day-to-day activity efficiently.
  • Maintaining Comprehensive CRM Documentation: Provide clear, detailed, and timely documentation of every call received in the organization’s CRM platform, supporting continuity of care and quality assurance.
  • Upholding Strict Confidentiality: Maintain the highest level of confidentiality regarding member, provider, clinical, and organizational information in compliance with HIPAA and company policy.
  • Collaborating Across Departments: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams and internal departments to support organizational goals related to new line of business development, increased enrollment, and compliance with state and federal regulations, as well as NCQA requirements.
  • Identifying and Handling Grievances and Appeals: Recognize potential grievances and appeals, handle them appropriately, and facilitate quality outcomes and resolutions that benefit all applicable parties.
  • Supporting Departmental Projects: Assist with special projects and initiatives as directed by the Customer Service management team, and perform other duties as assigned during slow periods or between calls.

Essential Qualifications and Requirements

To be considered for this long-term contract role through arenaflex, candidates must meet the following essential qualifications:

  • Customer Service Experience: A minimum of 1–2 years of customer service experience, preferably in a call center, healthcare, or member services environment.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent: A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Microsoft Office Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.
  • Call Center Environment Readiness: Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a high-volume call center environment while maintaining professionalism, empathy, and accuracy.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking: Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and sound judgment when handling member and provider inquiries.
  • Organizational and Time Management Skills: Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently in a remote setting, and maintain productivity in a structured environment.
  • Location Requirement: Must reside in or near Denver, Colorado, as this is a remote role tied to the Colorado market.

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart

  • Medical Insurance Knowledge: Hands-on experience with Medicare and Medicaid eligibility, enrollment, benefits, and plan structures is highly preferred.
  • Grievance and Appeals Experience: Prior experience identifying, handling, and resolving member grievances and appeals.
  • Mission Alignment: A demonstrated commitment to the client’s mission, vision, and values, with a passion for serving vulnerable populations.
  • Call Center Experience: At least one year of dedicated call center experience in a customer-facing role.
  • Healthcare Industry Background: Previous work within a non-profit healthcare organization, managed care plan, or government-sponsored program.

This is a fully remote, long-term contract position offered through arenaflex, with the opportunity to support a respected Colorado-based healthcare organization. The organization provides the necessary technology, training, and support to help you succeed from day one. Compensation and Benefits

arenaflex is committed to offering competitive compensation for contract professionals. For this role, the pay rate is $19.00 – $24.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. In addition, contractors may be eligible for the following benefits, subject to plan eligibility and terms:
