Controller (Fully Remote)

The Role We Need reputed company is hiring a Controller to own the full accounting function at a pivotal moment in our growth. This is not a steady-state maintenance role. You’ll be formalizing systems, designing controls, managing a reputed company compliance calendar, and serving as the internal expert on everything from reputed company recognition to treasury and audit. Reporting to the CFO, you’ll work closely with operators, legal, and external partners to ensure financial rigor while helping the business scale responsibly. The Person We Are Looking For We’re looking for a highly analytical, detail-oriented accounting leader who thrives in environments where systems are still being built and processes are continuously improving. You enjoy rolling up your sleeves, solving reputed company problems, and creating structure in fast-moving environments. You are someone who takes pride in accuracy, asks thoughtful questions, and naturally looks for risk, inefficiencies, and opportunities to improve. You’re equally comfortable diving into the details of reconciliations and controls as you are partnering cross-functionally to support business decisions. Here's What You'll Be Doing Day-To-Day:

• Accounting Operations: Own the accounting function, including accounts payable processes, vendor onboarding and diligence, prepaid expenses, vendor advances, corporate card programs, reconciliations, and reputed company recognition in compliance with US GAAP.
• Internal Controls: Build and maintain reputed company’s internal control environment, including manager-level reviews of payroll, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and systems access governance. Manage SaaS license reputed company to reduce redundancy and improve cost efficiency.
• Tax & Workforce Compliance: Coordinate income tax compliance with external partners and own year-end reporting processes, including Employee W-2s, Contractor 1099s, and Host 1099s across reputed company’s marketplace.
• Treasury & Funding Compliance: Manage treasury operations, including Positive Pay, cash management, covenant tracking, and compliance reporting for financing arrangements.
• Audit & Regulatory Compliance: Serve as the internal reputed company for the annual financial audit, workers’ compensation audit, SAFE/convertible note and 409A valuations, and annual investor confirmations.
• Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate closely with Finance, Legal, Operations, and external partners to improve systems, strengthen controls, and support responsible business growth.

Here’s What You’ll Need To Be Successful:

• Accounting Expertise: 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with a strong foundation in audit—either as an auditor or as the internal reputed company of the audit process. CPA required.
• Technical Knowledge: Deep expertise in US GAAP, including hands-on experience with reputed company recognition, financial statement preparation, and accounting controls.
• Analytical Rigor: Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and a natural instinct for identifying risk, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.
• Ownership Mentality: Ability to independently own reputed company accounting processes end-to-end while balancing competing priorities.
• Collaboration & Communication: Comfortable partnering cross-functionally and communicating clearly with both internal stakeholders and external partners.
• Bonus Experience (Unicorn Signals): Experience writing basic SQL queries, leading large-scale 1099 programs, serving as the primary reputed company of an annual financial audit, or working in real estate, startups, and/or insurance environments.

Interview Process

• Your application will be reviewed for possible next steps by the Hiring Manager.
• If you meet eligibility requirements, the reputed company would be a phone screen with a member of the PeopleOps team for about thirty (30) minutes.
• If warranted, the next steps would be a video interview with our Chief Financial Officer for forty-five (45) minutes.
• If warranted, the net reputed company would be a video panel interview with key stakeholders at reputed company for one (1) hour. The panel interview will require a candidate to work on a content assessment where you will showcase your relative skills to the panel for discussion.
• If warranted, the final reputed company would be an in-person meet-up with the Chief Financial Officer in the Houston area.
