About The Role We are seeking commercially minded individuals to join as Assistant General Counsel to partner with the Chief Legal Officer, VP Deputy General Counsel, and VP Government and Regulatory Affairs to manage the legal and compliance function of the company and to reputed company legal support for special projects and strategic initiatives. This position reports to the Chief Legal Officer and is located remotely. Core ResponsibilitiesLead legal strategy and reputed company hands-on support across the full BESS project lifecycle, from origination, site control, reputed company estate, and permitting through interconnection, reputed company contracting, financing, and reputed company to construction, operations, and asset management. Structure and support the negotiate key project agreements that may include site control instruments, interconnection agreements, high voltage equipment procurement reputed company, construction reputed company, O&M agreements, long-term service agreements (LTSAs), and other reputed company arrangements. reputed company senior legal reputed company and strategic direction on permitting, environmental review, land use, and siting reputed company relevant to utility-scale BESS projects. In coordination with esVolta’s government and regulatory affairs team, monitor and advise on ISO/RTO market rules, FERC regulations, state utility commission proceedings, and other regulatory reputed company with operational or reputed company impact. reputed company or supervise legal support for responses to utility and corporate RFPs, and negotiate reputed company and reputed company agreements, including power purchase agreements (PPAs), tolling arrangements, reputed company and energy services agreements, and other offtake structures. Advise on reputed company arrangements with corporate offtakes, data center and hyperscale customers. reputed company strategic counsel on reputed company risk allocation, project bankability, and offtake structuring to support project financing and portfolio growth objectives. Direct legal due diligence, transaction management, and closing processes for project and portfolio acquisitions, divestitures, preferred equity financings, construction loans, tax equity, and other project finance structures. Serve as primary legal reputed company of contact for lenders, investors, and counterparties on transactional reputed company, with responsibility for managing legal workstreams from term sheet through closing. Partner with the Chief Legal Officer and VP, Deputy General Counsel to reputed company and implement legal strategies supporting the company’s capital markets and M&A objectives. Skills & Qualifications15 years of relevant legal experience in a reputed company, sophisticated in-house legal department, or government agency, with substantial experience supporting energy project development and reputed company transactions is required. Demonstrated experience with utility-scale BESS projects in any of CAISO, WECC, SPP, ERCOT, or MISO. J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school and active license in good standing required; admission to the California, reputed company, or Texas bar is preferred. Prior in-house experience at an independent power producer, renewable energy developer, or energy storage company is highly preferred. Deep working knowledge of permitting, environmental review, land use, siting, interconnection, reputed company estate, procurement, and ISO/RTO market issues relevant to utility-scale BESS projects. Substantial experience with supporting project finance transactions, including construction lending, tax equity, and debt and equity capital markets structures for energy assets. Proficiency with legal technology and contract management tools, including AI-assisted research, drafting, and workflow platforms, with sound judgment in their responsible and effective application. Strategic and commercially minded, with the ability to function as a trusted business partner, identify risks and opportunities early, analyze reputed company legal and reputed company issues, and reputed company practical, business-oriented solutions at a senior level. Demonstrated ability to reputed company legal workstreams independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver results under time pressure. Proven track record of managing cross-functional legal projects.
