This role involves teaching an evening section of class starting at 8:00pm, 9:30pm, or 11:00 pm Eastern. Department: Gravitas, A Global Extension of the Stony Brook School Job Status: Part Time position Primary Office Location: Remote Start Date: August 11, 2025 End Date: June 6, 2026 Qualifications • Bachelor's or master's degree in Math, Science, English, History, Philosophy, Theology, Bible, Spanish, French, or Education. • Minimum of three years of teaching experience, including online instruction • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet grading and project deadlines • High energy, strong work ethic, and the ability to effectively engage with teenagers in an online environment. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a commitment to responding promptly to all communications. • Eagerness to serve in a faith-based learning environment that emphasizes faithful Christian scholarship and character formation • Proficiency with technology, including the ability to navigate a learning management system (e.g., Canvas LMS), online educational tools, and create screencasts/videos. • Reliable, high-speed internet access. • Experience working collaboratively with a team of teachers, with a focus on providing and receiving constructive feedback in a transparent, growth-oriented culture. • Ability to interact professionally with parents, students, and other community members. • Cultural awareness and sensitivity, as our students come from diverse global backgrounds. • A demonstrated commitment to professional development and continuous learning. • Maturity and stability to thrive in a demanding role. Primary Responsibilities • Provide both synchronous and asynchronous instruction and support. • Grade student assignments and provide timely, constructive feedback. • Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the Gravitas curriculum The Stony Brook School is an independent college preparatory school (grades 7-12) that exists to challenge young men and women to know Jesus Christ as Lord, to love others as themselves, and to grow in knowledge and skill, in order that they may serve the world through their character and leadership.
