Data Warehouse Consultant

Data Warehouse Consultant Location: Remote or on site- your choice! Overview: We re working with a well-established organization that s reengineering its data infrastructure to better support Power BI and overall business intelligence goals. The current setup involves a homegrown data-moving tool (possibly built in VB) and a SQL-based data warehouse designed by an independent consultant. The client now needs an experienced Data Warehouse consultant to step in, modernize the pipeline, and stand up new connections using Azure Data Factory (ADF). Why This Data Warehouse Role Exists: The previous consultant designed and implemented the original system, but the client has no internal visibility into the code or architecture. As they evolve, they need expert guidance to rebuild and expand the data pipeline, transition away from the legacy tool, and build out the next iteration of their warehouse. This is not a lift and shift it s a roll-up-your-sleeves, let s-build-it-better opportunity. Scope of Work:

• The Data Warehouse Consultant will reengineer the current data pipeline to replace a legacy data-moving tool
• Stand up and manage new data connections using Azure Data Factory
• Optimize and/or rebuild components of the existing SQL data warehouse
• Help enable smooth downstream integration with Power BI
• Provide recommendations and documentation for long-term maintainability

What They Need:

• Proven professional expertise in Azure Data Factory (ADF)
• Strong handle on SQL
• Ability to reverse engineer a legacy system without direct access to code documentation
• Experience working with Power BI data models is a plus
• Comfortable working with ambiguity client knows what outcomes they need but is looking for a partner to help shape the path

Other Info:

• This is a contract role. While not likely to convert to full-time, the company is maintaining investment in IT and has a BI Engineer headcount budgeted.
• You'll be working alongside internal stakeholders who understand data endpoints and goals, but are looking to you for technical leadership.
