Job description: Location: New York (with California Bar admission required)Salary Range: $130,000 – $140,000Experience: Minimum 2 yearsBar Admission: California and New YorkAbout the RoleA leading plaintiff-side employment law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its dynamic team. This position offers the opportunity to advocate for employee rights in a collaborative, mission-driven environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in employment litigation, a passion for representing plaintiffs, and the ability to manage cases independently from inception through resolution.Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of employment law matters, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and wage and hour claims
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and other legal documents
- Conduct legal research and prepare legal memoranda
- Take and defend depositions
- Represent clients in mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and trials
- Negotiate settlements and provide strategic legal advice to clients
- Collaborate with other attorneys and support staff to develop effective case strategies
- Maintain regular communication with clients to provide updates and manage expectations
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active bar membership in both California and New York (required)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in employment law, preferably on the plaintiff side
- Strong litigation skills, including experience with discovery, depositions, and motion practice
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Demonstrated commitment to advocating for employee rights
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
