We are looking for a talented Data Analyst to join our team on a contract-to-hire basis. This role will help us harness data to make better business decisions and support audience development across VentureBeat... and GamesBeat. This is a small team environment, so the perfect candidate is someone who thrives in a scrappy, hands-on role. Position Overview: As a Data Analyst, you will work closely with marketing, sales, and editorial teams to analyze and interpret data, develop actionable insights, and support data-driven decision-making. You’ll be responsible for content and audience analysis, creating reports, tracking key performance indicators (KPIs), and overseeing the data schema and infrastructure setup to ensure effective data collection and reporting. This role is ideal for someone who is ready to jump in, get hands-on, and wear multiple hats. The position starts as a contract role with the potential to transition to full-time based on performance. Key Responsibilities: • Data Collection & Analysis: Collect, clean, and analyze data from various sources to support audience growth, marketing initiatives, sales strategies, and content performance across VentureBeat and GamesBeat. • Reporting: Develop detailed reports and dashboards to track KPIs and provide insights into the effectiveness of campaigns, website traffic, user engagement, and audience development. • Content & Audience Analysis: Conduct in-depth content and audience analysis to support data-driven decision-making, optimize engagement, and grow the audience. • Data Schema & Infrastructure Setup: Oversee the setup and management of data schema and infrastructure to ensure efficient data flow, collection, and reporting processes. • Data-Driven Insights: Work closely with stakeholders to translate data into actionable insights that support business objectives, including audience segmentation, content performance, sales strategies, and marketing performance. • Optimization: Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to identify opportunities for optimization based on data analysis. • Forecasting & Trends: Assist in forecasting trends and opportunities in user behavior, content consumption, and sales performance to inform strategic decisions. • Data Visualization: Present findings through clear and effective data visualizations to communicate insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Key Qualifications: • 3+ years of experience in data analysis or a related field, preferably in media, technology, or digital marketing. • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, Google Analytics, and SQL. Experience with business intelligence platforms like Tableau, Power BI, or Looker is a plus. • Strong ability to interpret complex data sets and deliver actionable insights. • Experience with audience segmentation, marketing performance analysis, sales tracking, and content analysis. • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills. • Strong communication skills with the ability to present data findings to both technical and non-technical audiences. • Experience overseeing data schema and infrastructure setup. • Scrappy, hands-on approach with the ability to thrive in a small team environment. • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Marketing, or a related field is preferred.
