Staff Engineer

We’re looking for a Staff Engineer to help shape the future of our engineering organization. As a senior technical leader, you’ll design and guide complex systems, mentor teams, and drive key architectural decisions that enable Clearco to scale. This is a high-impact role suited for a builder who thrives on solving deep technical challenges and who is passionate about enabling others to succeed.

You’ll collaborate cross-functionally, influence strategy, and ensure our systems are secure, performant, and designed for growth.

Architect, Build, and Scale Systems

• Lead design and implementation of core systems that are critical to Clearco’s growth and customer impact

• Define and uphold architectural patterns that balance scalability, maintainability, and delivery speed

• Evaluate and adopt new technologies where they improve business or developer outcomes

Drive Cross-Team Collaboration

• Partner with engineering leads, product managers, and stakeholders to shape product direction

• Break down complex technical problems and help cross-functional teams deliver cohesive solutions

• Foster alignment on engineering best practices across teams

Lead Through Influence

• Act as a force multiplier: mentor engineers, drive technical excellence, and lead design reviews

• Set high standards for code quality, system resilience, and security

• Influence engineering culture through thought leadership and hands-on guidance

Own the End-to-End Lifecycle

• Champion CI/CD, observability, and operational readiness

• Drive incident response, root cause analysis, and long-term fixes for reliability

• Take ownership of platform performance, cost efficiency, and technical debt management

Minimum Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience

• Expertise designing and building scalable distributed systems and backend services

• Deep understanding of API design, data modeling, and systems architecture

• Strong coding abilities in TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, or equivalent

• Proficiency with SQL and/or NoSQL databases

• Experience working in cloud environments (preferably GCP)

• Effective communicator with experience influencing technical direction at the organizational level

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading technical strategy or major platform migrations

• Familiarity with our stack: TypeScript, Node.js, Vue.js, PostgreSQL, GCP

• Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD tooling, and infrastructure-as-code

• A security-first mindset and familiarity with modern authentication, encryption, and secure-by-design principles
