STEAM Scholars (S2) Tutor - Empowering Young Minds in Harrisburg

Join our team at The Salvation Army and make a difference in the lives of young students! We are seeking a passionate and dedicated STEAM Scholars (S2) Tutor to work part-time in our Harrisburg office, supporting the educational and personal growth of students at the PA STEAM Academy Charter School.

About the Role

As a STEAM Scholars (S2) Tutor, you will play a vital role in creating a nurturing and educational program environment that fosters academic excellence and creativity. You will work closely with our experienced teachers to implement lesson plans, provide individualized support, and promote a love of learning among our students.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality academic instruction and support to students using the ARC, K-5 Math Teaching Resources, Great Minds, Engage NY Mathematics, and Eureka Mathematics curriculum
• Collaborate with S2 Teachers to develop and implement effective lesson plans
• Attend all trainings and be willing to learn to assist with other assigned curriculums and implement lessons
• Maintain a safe, organized, and engaging learning environment
• Build strong relationships with students, teachers, and parents

Requirements

• High School Diploma with 2 years of work-related experience in tutoring, elementary education, or childcare; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in progress preferred
• Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills
• Cultural flexibility and competency in working with multi-cultural participants
• Strong interpersonal communication and classroom management skills
• Valid CPR and First Aid Certification
• Valid Driver's License
• Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153
