Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at Michigan Great Lakes Virtual Academy (MGLVA), a Stride K12 partner school. As an online educator, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality, personalized education to students with special needs in grades K-5. - Deliver specific course content in an online environment, tailored to meet the individual needs of students with special needs
- Develop and implement compliant Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), progress reports, and other state-specific required special education documentation
- Communicate effectively with parents, related service staff, and IEP team members to ensure students receive necessary therapies and support
- Facilitate collaborative special education meetings, including annual IEP meetings
- Provide accommodations and modifications to Stride K12 lessons and assessments as specified by the IEP
- Collect data and work samples to monitor student progress towards IEP goals and objectives
- Analyze student data to inform remediation and enrichment strategies
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with families, students, and learning coaches/parents
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree
- Active State Special Education teaching license
- Ability to clear required background check
- Michigan residency required
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with students in grades K-5
- Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology
- Experience teaching online (virtual) and/or in a brick-and-mortar environment
- Experience with online learning platforms
