Position: Part-Time Grant Fiscal Assistant (Remote) Location: Windber The purpose of this position is to provide accounting and fiscal direct service functions for specified programs funded by grants or special revenue that pass through or are provided directly to the agency. Qualifications: Education: Associate Degree in the area of accounting/finance or equivalent experience. Experience: Must have a minimum of three years general accounting experience. Not-for-Profit accounting and grant experience is desirable. Computer proficiency: Advanced computer proficiency, especially in the area of spreadsheets. Clearances: Must be able to obtain acceptable results from required background checks, including Act 151 Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania Criminal History Check, Department of Human Services-FBI Fingerprints, and Bureau of Prison background investigation. Other: Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record and dependable transportation. Access to dependable transportation, which can be used in the course of his/her job. Must have an operating telephone, so that he/she may be contacted quickly by Goodwill when necessary. This position is a professional staff position and requires a person capable of conforming to the high standards of behavior expected of all staff. Excellent work habits, including attendance and punctuality, are required. The person must follow company policies and safety procedures as well as ensure that participants under his/her supervision follow the same. Skills, Abilities, Duties and Requirements: 1. Thorough understanding of general accepted accounting principles as they apply to nonprofit organizations. 2. Knowledge of and ability to apply financial analysis techniques. 3. Advanced knowledge of spreadsheet applications, preferably Microsoft Excel. 4. Ability to relate effectively and cooperatively with others within and outside the agency. 5. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. 6. Mastery of computer programs relevant to the accounting and record keeping functions. 7. Knowledge of government regulations including Uniform Guidance regarding grants. 8. Ability to use discretion when dealing with confidential information. 9. Ability to represent Goodwill to the community in a positive, professional manner. 10. Ability to perform medium-duty work occasionally. Ability to do occasional bending, stooping, stretching, pushing, and pulling. 11. Assist in the review and monitoring of individual grants and transactions for compliance with local, state and federal fund requirements while adhering to generally accepted accounting principles, including Governmental Accounting Standards Board, and the Office of Management and Budget's Uniform Guidance. 12. Reconcile financial information and identify issues that require immediate attention. 13. Assist in inputting and maintaining grant budget information in the computerized accounting software. 14. Prepare or assist in the timely preparation of regular financial reports and updates for management on grant performance. 15. Perform periodic internal audit/sub-recipient monitoring functions and report findings directly to the Controller. 16. Review subgrantee budgets and invoices. 17. Prepare invoices for processing with grantor. 18. Prepare or assist in the preparation of year-end reports, work papers, and analysis necessary for the external auditors to complete the yearly audit. 19. Develop and implement proactive approaches to address compliance and performance issues. 20. Prepare, review, and/or coordinate contractual agreements with subgrantees pertaining to the grant. 21. Perform other duties as assigned for the general benefit of the agency. Some of these other duties may be considered non-essential to the position.
